The Talbot Optimist Club held its annual oratorical contest at the Avalon Theater in Easton on April 11th. This year’s topic that the youth were to speak on was “How my best brings out the best in others.” Emerging as this year’s Talbot Optimist Club’s representatives were Will Newberg and Lilly Judd, students at The Country School in Easton. From here, Newberg and Judd travel to the regional competition in Salisbury to qualify for the state Optimist Oratorical Contest held later in Ocean City.
“We are proud of our youth,” said Susan Bohaker, Optimist President, “it’s all about providing the youth of Talbot County opportunities and funding youth activities.” The Talbot Optimist, formed 20 years ago, has raised and contributed close to $300,000 toward youth programs in Talbot County.
